Welcome

To exist is to change, to change is to mature, to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly.

Hello! Welcome to Reverie Psychotherapy, PLLC. My name is Jason (He/Him) and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Washington and New York State. I offer virtual sessions from the comfort of your home or any other space you choose.

I specialize in working with people of color, LGBQ+ wellness, and relationship issues including family, peer, and interpersonal conflicts. I currently work with adults and young adults (18+); I have worked with many university students as a former academic advisor and counselor, and understand the stressors related to higher education and post-graduate expectations. Other areas of expertise include, but are not limited to:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Childhood Trauma

  • Self-esteem Issues

  • Grief & Loss

  • Addiction Recovery

  • Anger Management

  • Career/Existential Fulfillment

There are many details and sensitivities that can be overlooked by society at large - including intergenerational pressures, systemic and institutional oppression, conflicting gender roles and expectations, and intersectional identities and tensions. Understanding these nuances, I strive to be open, respectful, and empathic with all peoples regardless of race, ethnicity, culture, class, gender identities, ability, religion, sexual orientations, and relationship beliefs.

I am a gay, first generation Chinese-American. I graduated from New York University’s Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness program in 2009 where I received 300+ hours of practicum and supervision working with primarily first generation university students. I also received 3000+ hours of experience working in a community-based mental health setting with Black, Latine, multiethnic and multicultural families and adults. My work in NYC brought me to a small group practice working primarily with women from various backgrounds and intersectionalities including LGBTQ, Black, and people of color.

Finding a therapist can be a difficult task. I am happy to answer any questions you may have.
